Aylesbury RFC U10's match report 09.03.08

Aylesbury A   0         Buckingham A        10
Aylesbury A   25       Brackley           0

In a three team competition the A team came away with honours even after a morning of closely matched rugby. The first game was cut and thrust from the opening minute as Aylesbury ran into determined defence and were forced to clear their own lines on several occasions. Connor Eastgate put in determined runs and was ably supported by Tom Coats who seemed to be everywhere in support and keeping the ball in play. Ollie Bowles tried in vain to break the Buckingham defence but a last minute breakout by the opposition put the game out of reach.

The second game allowed the team to capitalise on their earlier performance as the ball went from hand to hand in a quick scoring game. Brackley recovered their composure after four first half tries to make the second half more even but were no match for Aylesbury. Try scorers for Aylesbury were Connor Eastgate (2),Freddie Phillips, Ollie Bowles and a great second half effort from Jamie Ludlow

Aylesbury B   5         Buckingham B        20
Aylesbury B   5         Buckingham B        30

The B team played team rugby from the start but took too long to get into their stride as the opposition put in three quick tries. Several of the team played their best of the season with Ollie Chaplin making a solo run to score a great try. Gus Charlier kept on his feet time after time after breaking play and Christian Birch took control of loose play in the ruck. Harry Dorsett put in a great run over half of the pitch and was pushed off the line, unlucky not to score.

The second game allowed Buckingham to consolidate their position as they put in fluent and controlled phases to put in six tries. Although Aylesbury battled hard the only exceptional play came from Harry Dorsett who scored a great try in his welcome return to form.
