Buffaloes turn to shine

 

The intense rivalry between Aylesbury Under 8s  two main teams took another twist with the Buffaloes overturning the high flying Scorpions to take top spot in a mini tournament that included a strong visiting team from Oxford.

The Buffaloes showed great spirit coming from behind twice in the final game of the tournament to snatch the draw that secured their top place.Connor McNulty ,Tom (TK) King and Alex Simmons(2) were the Aylesbury scorers with Simmons second try coming after a powerful run right on the final whistle.

Seemingly unstoppable in recent weeks Scorpions were given a rude shock by their training pals.TK scored a hat-trick of tries ,Connor and Oakley McNulty added two apiece and Alex Simmons added to his tally as the Buffaloes built an unassailable lead. Luke Griffiths(2)Curtis Green,Harry Charlesworth.Nathaniel Hardy and Tommy Mottram were the Scorpions scorers.

The newly formed Barbarians team gave an encouraging performance before going down to the in-form Buffaloes for whom Connor McNulty and TK each grabbed a hat-trick of tries.Glenn Curtis and Billy Blundell-Ward were the other Buffaloes scorers.The coaches were delighted by the progress the Barbarians have made  with Christian Wybrow scoring both their tries.

Oxford became the latest in a string of scalps claimed by Scorpions this season as the Aylesbury youngsters came out on top in a close fought game.Harry Charlesworth added another hat-trick to an impressive tally this season. Siobhan Mottram(2) was also in form with Nathaniel Hardy,Luke Griffiths and Tommy Mottram completing the scoring.

A big ask for the inexperienced Barbarians team but they matched the visitors for long periods of the game.Alex  Band reminded everyone what he could do with a fine try but the biggest cheer of the day came when Ben Williams scored his first competitive try.
