Aylesbury RFC U10's match report 09.03.08

Aylesbury A   0         Buckingham A        10
Aylesbury A   25       Brackley           0

In a three team competition the A team came away with honours even after a morning of closely matched rugby. The first game was cut and thrust from the opening minute as Aylesbury ran into determined defence and were forced to clear their own lines on several occasions. Connor Eastgate put in determined runs and was ably supported by Tom Coats who seemed to be everywhere in support and keeping the ball in play. Ollie Bowles tried in vain to break the Buckingham defence but a last minute breakout by the opposition put the game out of reach.

The second game allowed the team to capitalise on their earlier performance as the ball went from hand to hand in a quick scoring game. Brackley recovered their composure after four first half tries to make the second half more even but were no match for Aylesbury. Try scorers for Aylesbury were Connor Eastgate (2),Freddie Phillips, Ollie Bowles and a great second half effort from Jamie Ludlow

Aylesbury B   5         Buckingham B        20
Aylesbury B   5         Buckingham B        30

The B team played team rugby from the start but took too long to get into their stride as the opposition put in three quick tries. Several of the team played their best of the season with Ollie Chaplin making a solo run to score a great try. Gus Charlier kept on his feet time after time after breaking play and Christian Birch took control of loose play in the ruck. Harry Dorsett put in a great run over half of the pitch and was pushed off the line, unlucky not to score.

The second game allowed Buckingham to consolidate their position as they put in fluent and controlled phases to put in six tries. Although Aylesbury battled hard the only exceptional play came from Harry Dorsett who scored a great try in his welcome return to form.

Harpenden A   20

Aylesbury A                   40
Harpenden Dev. Team     0

Aylesbury A        0
Harpenden A&B  10

Aylesbury As had the opportunity to play against teams of various abilities due to Harpenden’s squad consisting of four teams. Their first match was very exciting with both sides determined not to concede, but Aylesbury were unlucky to let through four tries. They fought back determinedly in the second half but were unable to change the scoreline. The second match  showed Aylesbury totally overpowering their opponents, with tries scored by Ollie Bowles (2), Freddie Phillips (2), Georgia Green (2), Connor Eastgate and Sam  Richardson. During the third match, despite dominating most of the game and displaying excellent all-round skills, they briefly lost concentration and let through two tries.

Team: Bowles, Coats, Eastgate, Green, Moore, Phillips, Plowman, Richardson, Rickard (coaches’ award winner).

Aylesbury B    10
Harpenden B   25

Aylesbury B                5
Harpenden Dev. Team  25

Aylesbury B    10
Harpenden B   15

Aylesbury Bs started the day with a try from Gus Charlier, excellent driving from Harry Dorsett and fearless tackling from Leigh Ingram. Unfortunately it was not enough to overcome the strong opposition and Harpenden managed to get the upper hand. Despite Harry Dorsett’s try, in the second match, Aylesbury could not overcome their opponents;. the third match was a much closer run affair with Harry and Jamie Ludlow scoring a try apiece but  were just pipped at the post. The fixture was enjoyed by all players and they can now draw on the day’s experiences  in preparation for next week’s home fixture against Henley.

Team: Bell, Birch, Chaplin, Charlier, Dorsett, Ingram, Jackson, Ludlow, O’Carroll.

Match Report

Aylesbury RFC U10s v. Bicester RUFC Sunday 13th January 2008

Aylesbury A     0
Bicester B       20

Aylesbury A     5
Bicester A        0

Aylesbury A     5
Bicester B       15

The U10s As opening fixture of 2008 proved to be quite challenging and caught them out on the backfoot against strong opposition during the first match. However they made amends in the second and got back into their stride. Overall good support came from Ollie Bowles and Connor Eastgate, who scored Aylesbury’s try in the third match.
Aylesbury As: Bowles, Coates, Dorsett, Eastgate, Green, Moore, Overton, Pittam, Richardson

Aylesbury B 30
Bicester C         0

Aylesbury B    35
Bicester B          5

Aylesbury B      5
Bicester B        25

Aylesbury Bs stormed their way through the first match, with skipper Charles Plowman scoring the first two tries, followed by Freddie May and Jamie Ludlow with two tries apiece. Leigh Ingram put in some immense tackling and the scrum, which consisted of Theo Schofield, Freddie May and James Rickard  (coaches’ award winner) showed real controlled aggression.
During the second match, the Bs continued to show excellent teamwork, with tries being scored by Jamie Ludlow (two), Oli Chaplin (one) and James Rickard (four). The forwards put on good pressure and intelligent ball-passing meant that the game went totally in Aylesbury’s favour. A good break by Bicester brought about their only try.
A strengthened Bicester side in the third match proved more challenging but Aylesbury stood their ground with Oli Chaplin scoring a consolation try.
Overall a spirited and excellent display of rugby.
Aylesbury Bs: Birch, Chaplin, Charlier, Ingram, Ludlow, May, Plowman, Rickard,Schofield, Wares

A report on the U10s performance at Maidenhead Mini Rugby Festival Sunday 14th October 2007:

Aylesbury "As"

Aylesbury 5 High Wycombe 5

A good start by Aylesbury, with Connor Easgate scoring the opening try, great running by Ollie Bowles and good tackling by Georgia Green.

Aylesbury 5 Maidenhead 15

Aylesbury battled hard against determined opposition but were unlucky not to add to Connor Eastgate's try in this match.

Aylesbury 10 Henley 5

Aylesbury showed great spirit in their win over Henley, with Sam Richardson, Tom Coats and Jack Overton putting in superb try-saving tackles. Aylesbury's try scorers were Connor and Ollie Bowles.

Aylesbury "Bs"

Aylesbury 0 Cobham 25

Not a good start for Aylesbury; despite a good defensive display by Jamie Ludlow, Freddie May and Paul Fenton, they were unable to contain the powerful opposition they faced.

Aylesbury 0 High Wycombe 15

Although putting on a better display this time, Aylesbury were still unable to score. Coaches' Award winner Oliver Chaplin put on a superb show of fearless tackling.

Aylesbury 10 Henley 15

Much better play this time, with Lucy Dominey, Harvey Pittam and Freddie May showing great team-work in defence against tough opposition. Try-scorers were Jamie Ludlow and Ollie Chaplin.

Aylesbury 10 Maidenhead Lions 0

A superb show of rugby by Aylesbury with Jack Overton scoring both tries and solid defence by Jamie and Ollie B.

Aylesbury 10 Maidenhead Tigers 15

A very exciting final match after a long day, Connor and Ollie B. being the try-scorers but Maidenhead just had the edge.

Well done to both teams for a great day of rugby!

Ladies and gents.

As some of may know Young Harry mills was a Marlow under 12 player who sadly passed away last week, his funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon in Marlow.

The family has set up a website http://www.harrymills.co.uk/

The club has organised a wreath to be sent on behalf of everyone, but if you would care to make a donation to the charity or wish to visit the website please fee free.

Harry was a super young sportsman that played as many sports as he could be involved in. he will be sadly missed by so many. He was one of the players that took part in our junior festival and was in the winning Marlow team.

Our thought should go out to his parents and family at this time.
