Chesham RFC 17pts - Aylesbury RFC 32pts. PDF Print E-mail

 Team:   U15
 Opponents:   Chesham RFC.
Competition:   Bucks County RFU Youth League - Friendly.
 Venue:   Chesham RFC
Result:   Chesham RFC 17pts - Aylesbury RFC 32pts.
 Date:   Sunday 11th November 2007.

Aylesbury U15’s notched up their second away win of the season with a sparkling first half display in their match against Chesham on Sunday. On a clear and blustery day, A’s took the initiative right from the start and ran in two tries in the opening 10 minutes.  The first came from Scrum-Half Charlie Esdon with a fast swerving run and the second from Inside Centre Jack Whitehouse, down the left hand side, following a powerful drive through the middle by No.8 Tawanda Bwerudza.  Chesham recovered to peg one try back but Aylesbury maintained the initiative with a superb solo effort between the posts from Whitehouse.  Outside Centre Rob Kempton kept up the momentum with another try between the posts, converted by Whitehouse, followed by a fine individual, long kick-and-run try down the right.  Chesham rallied to pull back a converted try just before half-time, to make it 27-12 in Aylesbury’s favour.

In the second half, both teams enjoyed good periods of territorial advantage but both were unable to capitalise on it.  The powerful Chesham pack gave Aylesbury a number of problems to think about but good consistent tackling and ball handling kept A’s on top.  Just as the half looked like it was going to end scoreless, Aylesbury Winger Matt Fitchett scored his first try of the season, following a great interception and sprint from within his own half.  The home team then countered with their final try, squeezed right in the corner but, at the whistle, it was Aylesbury who ran-out clear winners by 32-17.

 Team:   U15
 Opponents:   High Wycombe RFC.
Competition:   Bucks RFU Youth Club KO Cup.
 Venue:   High Wycombe RFC
Result:   High Wycombe RFC 17pts - Aylesbury RFC 32pts.
 Date:   Sunday 14th October 2007.

A hat-trick of tries from winger Rob Kempton and some fine attacking runs from Jack Whitehouse helped Aylesbury U-15’s to a comfortable 32-17 win away at High Wycombe in round one of the Bucks Cup on Sunday.Aylesbury’s first competitive game of the season didn’t start well, as Wycombe’s strong pack quickly laid siege to their visitor’s line, resulting in an early try.  Aylesbury fought back with some fine kicking, allowing Kempton to level the score with a battling run down the right.  Good scrummaging and distribution helped Aylesbury maintain territorial advantage in the first half and a swerving run from scrum-half Charlie Esdon scored A’s second try, converted by Whitehouse, to put Aylesbury 12-5 ahead at the break.

In the second half, Tawanda Bwerudza stormed through with an early try from short range, after a long penetrating run from Whitehouse had set up a scrum-five.  Wycombe immediately struck back however, after another show of power on the Aylesbury line.  Aylesbury then responded with sustained attacks into the Wycombe half, resulting in two further tries for Kempton and a well deserved solo effort from Whitehouse, to put the result beyond doubt.  Wycombe rallied for a consolation try & conversion just before the end, but it was too late to prevent revenge for Aylesbury for their defeat by Wycombe in last year’s competition.

Ladies and gents.

As some of may know Young Harry mills was a Marlow under 12 player who sadly passed away last week, his funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon in Marlow.

The family has set up a website http://www.harrymills.co.uk/

The club has organised a wreath to be sent on behalf of everyone, but if you would care to make a donation to the charity or wish to visit the website please fee free.

Harry was a super young sportsman that played as many sports as he could be involved in. he will be sadly missed by so many. He was one of the players that took part in our junior festival and was in the winning Marlow team.

Our thought should go out to his parents and family at this time.
